In case of an Emergency

Evaluate the severity of the injury or medical emergency to make sure that the correct medical response can be dispatched.

Be considerate and do not call for an ambulance for a minor injury that could be dealt with a response vehicle. If resources are on route to a minor case, it can prevent the services to be rendered elsewhere at a serious emergency where the absence of medical assistance and may lead to severe suffering or death.

If the emergency requires an EMS team, call our 24 hour number and make sure you do the next steps and have the following information available:

  • Stay calm. Do the necessary to stop bleeding/cuts or open airways. Make the patient comfortable. But do not apply home remedies/medicines without the consent of the call-centre paramedics. (This might seriously interfere with what must be done when a patient ingested incorrect medication.)
  • Provide the call-centre with your Mosmed24 membership number and immediately identify the person who will be the contact person throughout the medical evacuation if the Main Member is the patient.
  • Provide your telephone number for a call-back if contact is lost. (Provide the number of a fully charged cell-phone. We can’t call you back on a dead cell)
  • To the best of your abilities, describe the patient’s condition, the circumstances leading up to the emergency/cause of patient’s condition, any known medical history like allergies, asthma, hypertension etc.
  • Provide an easy identifiable address. In the absence of clear road-markings, send a WhatsApp location, or provide landmarks to direct the response teams to the correct address.
  • Advise the response team on local information like the condition of roads, rain damage ect.
